Welcome to NotJust4Paws, I am Dr. Laura Searle-Barnes and I grew up in a small rural village just North of London, United Kingdom, with my parents and younger brother. For me, it was less of a decision to become a veterinarian and more of a vocation, knowing from the age of 4, I wanted to be a veterinarian and was lucky to receive a place at the Royal Veterinary College, London, where I trained in both small and large animals and graduated in 2006.
I moved to the USA in 2006 where I worked in Seattle for 6 months and then back to the UK whilst waiting for a more permanent visa to return to California in 2008. In that time, I worked for the UKs largest charity (PDSA), helping families in need with their pets health concerns at the same time as gaining a wide range of surgical and emergency experience.
In my lifetime I have had quite the collection of pets: Dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, Guinea pigs, chinchillas, chickens, ducks and a tortoise. I truly love all creatures great and small. I am lucky enough to now live on a ranch with my husband, Stephen, who has a degree in kinesiology and specializes in sports therapy massage (humans and horses), my daughter Lilly and sons Logan and Louie. We have plenty going on to keep us busy!
Although I practice both medicine and surgery I do have a special interest in dentistry and attend as many outside classes on this topic as I can find! I also love working with rabbits, as growing up with them and coming from a country where they are the second most popular household pet, I miss seeing them, but am glad they are becoming more popular here in the United States.
Practice ownership has been a dream of mine for quite some time, though it has had its challenges due to the overwhelming corporate takeover in this profession. I consider myself very fortunate to have found Not Just 4 Paws. I intend for it to remain a family run, friendly practice for years to come, and look forward to meeting each client and patient.
Your pet is a part of our family. Not Just 4 Paws Animal Hospital is a family owned business and it is important that you know we are committed to providing your pet with the absolute best in veterinary care.
Dr Adriance is a California native and grew up in Northern San Diego County. Like most veterinarians, she knew that she wanted to help advocate for our furry family members from as far back as she can remember. She completed her undergraduate degree at St. John’s University in New York, and then went on to attend veterinary school at UC Davis (frequently deemed the worlds number one veterinary school), where she specialized in Equine and Companion animal medicine. Upon graduating in 2016, she went on to work at a mixed practice where she developed a soft spot for small ruminant medicine (goats, alpacas, and other camelids) as well as growing her interest in wellness and preventative care and caring for senior pets. She has worked on some interesting animals including Zebras!
Dr Adriance has her own family of pets including Bolt – a 9 year old Pittie mix, Peanut – a 3 year old Calico cat, Asia- an adult Siamese and Sebastian – a 6 year old Thoroughbred gelding and she recently got married to Ian. She has two brothers and her immediate family lives in San Diego.
Dr Adriance is an avid horse rider and competes with Sebastian in the hunter/jumper circuit when able. She also coaches soccer goalkeepers at the high school level using her goalkeeping experience from when she played division 1 college soccer in undergrad.
Here at NJ4P we are so excited to bring her on board as she brings an entirely new and exciting dynamic to the clinic, enabling us to now not only help our cats and dogs, but also take care of some of our client’s small ruminants (goats etc).

Dr. Huang was born in Taiwan and moved to Southern California in 2007. Her childhood beagle, Fancy, who had multiple illnesses (torn ACL, eye cancer, herniated disc, heart disease, allergy), inspired her to become a veterinarian. She volunteered at local animal shelter, wildlife rescue, and worked as pet sitter for physically impaired animals.
In 2014, she completed her undergraduate study at UC San Diego. She then obtained her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduating in 2019, she completed a small animal rotating internship at Blue Pearl Pet Hospital in Irvine - where she worked closely with critical patient in the ICU. Dr. Huang has a special interest in emergency and critical care and ophthalmology. She is hoping to further her education in ultrasound in the future.
Dr. Huang recently moved to Murrieta with her partner and is looking to adopt a new fur baby. During her free time, Dr. Huang enjoys yoga, baking, and hiking. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
